How to Unbrick Samsung Galaxy Ace or any Samsung Android mobile using Odin

If your phone shows signs of life even after it is bricked,  it is never too late to unbrick and bring your phone back to life. So dont panic and be calm.
If your phone is not an Ace but any other Samsung Anrdoid Device you can follow the same method but make sure you download the corresponding stock rom for your device. You can google it to find the ROM for your device.

Step 1: You need Odin v4.38 flasher for flashing your bricked phone. Also download these usb drivers in case Odin doesn't detect your mobile and install them (Recommended to install by default)
Step 2 : Download the firmware required for flashing. The latest 2.3.4 gingerbread rom for ace can be downloaded here. Gingerbread 2.3.4. Password is sampro.pl  .
You may have to download the required rom according to the region you live in the world.
Step 3: Now unzipping the file you will be getting a md5 file with a big file name referring to the firmware version etc. You will be using this file for flashing.
Step 4: You also need an ops file for the flashing process. Cooper.ops
Step 5: Open Odin flashtool.
Step 6: If you have downloaded the firmware as separate packages then follow the below steps:
Note: The above given link is for one package flashing so those who used the above firmware can ignore these set of steps.

Multifile Method:

1)Select from extracted archive: OPS-OPS, Boot-APBOOT, Phone-MODEM, PDA-CODE, CSC-CSC (leave EFS and One Package empty)
2)Connect your phone via USB into PC
3)When the screen is turned on hold POWER+VOLUME DOWN+HOME and wait until the phone enters the  Download Mode
4) If ODIN detects and recognises your phone, it should light up the first square to the left side
5) Press "Start" button and wait, the process should take ~5 minutes
6)If all goes well your phone should reboot automatically
7)Square should change the color to blue and display "PASS" it means that flashing process was successful    and we have the newest firmware
8)Disconnect your phone
9)Turn off your phone
10)Insert your SIM Card and SD Card again
11)Turn on your phone
12) Now you have brought your phone back to life.
Step 7: One package:
For this all you have to do is click ops and select the ops file and tick the one package checkbox and click one package button and select the md5 file with the long file name and follow from step 2 of the Multifile method.

In case there is a bootloop.Turn the phone off and press and hold the menu and power button down. Wait until you get the recovery menu. Use volume key up and down to navigate options and press menu button to select options. Wipe factory data and Wipe cache. Then select Reboot.
The phone will reboot normally.

For those who have problem with flashing as ODIN DOESN'T DETECT YOUR DEVICE INSTALL THE USB DRIVERS IN THE FIRST POST AND THEN TRY THE PROCESS.

Feedbacks are welcome :)

Alright i need help urgently..i tried to root a samsung galaxy ace (oman) runnin on 2.2.1 and i did it with super one click but then i tried installing clockwork mod recovery.. i went into recovery mode to install zip from sd card but there was no such option..there was an option called apply sd:update.zip and wipe cache partition so i searched on xda forums and found that to install this we need to rename the recovery clockwork zip to update.zip and den install..now the phone is not booting into recovery mode..
it did boot into normal rooted firmware and i saw the clockwork mod app den i went to that app and clicked reboot into recovery\
den its not booting into recovery nor normal firmware..
then i got some official firmwares thru download mode and tried flashing them wid odin but all fails…
now normal boot shows pc connected to phone with exclamation mark in between..

It's saying 'cannot open the usb serial port' what does that mean?

Anon said...

Make sure your usb port is working. try the ones at the front. if they dont work then those in the back. if all fails then there might be a problem with your usb wire. also check if you have necesarry phone and usb drivers installed.

Soory, it sounds like a stupid question, but what is a drive or drivers and where to download if required

Anon said...

Akeeb : Driver is a middle man between coding and the driver manager in the system. It helps hardware respond to software calls. In this case you need it for the mobile components to be accessed via pc. If you have samsung kies installed you wil most probably have the necessary samsung drivers needed for the mobile :)

Anonymous said...

hi can you please teach me how to get firmware 2.3.6 for samsung galaxy ace? thank you :)

Anon said...

Its pretty simple. Just follow the same steps i have given here , instead of the file I have mentioned here download a 2.3.6 firmware file and update the mobile system :) Thanks

mine gets stuck at QCSBL. it doesn't go any further no matter how long i let it run. Any ideas.

Well u have damaged ur bootloader I suppose... If u hav an ACE try downloading the firmware mentioned in the links and then open it using 7zip and and extract the file ARM11boot and flash that alone in odin by selecting boot tab. manually select the image file. I am not sure if it wud work. If this still doesnt work then u hav to go the sevice centre.

Anonymous said...

i have done all you said but it says fail when i press start :( what should i do ?

Anon said...

Hmmmm i suppose ur mobile aint in the downloading mode while starting the process or the necessary drivers arent present

Thanks a lot, you saved my day...=)
