How to install Custom Firmware in your NOKIA X6,5800,5530,5230

IMPORTANT NOTES:

!)It is very convenient if you format your phone (hardreset = * # 7370 #) and your SD memory card before performing this procedure since it eliminates the traces of any previous settings and avoid any future mistakes.

!!) During this process you should have put the SD card in your phone.

!!!) Remember never to install a CFW based on an older version of firmware you currently have (downgrade).

Lets start:

          1) First download the custom firmwares for the mobiles here
       
                              Symbain Anna v7 for Nokia X6
                             Symbian Anna v7 for Nokia 5800
                             Symbian Anna v7 for Nokia 5530
                             Symbian Anna v7 for Nokia 5230  

      
        2)  The flash tool required for this process JAF EMULATOR AND KEY

        3) Also you must have Nokia PC Suite and OVI suite installed in your PC for the required      drivers.
   
        4) When you unzip the archive of our CFW get a folder called RM-XXX. So put the folder   RM-XXX in the following path of your PC C: \ Program Files \ Nokia \ Phoenix \ Products \
If those folders do not exist you must create for the end as well as your files stay in the picture. 

Post script: The Nokia folder might be present in program files(x86) if you are a windows 7 32 bit user and program files(x64) if you are a windows 7 64 bit user. Use that directory itself if its present there. If you have installed Nokia OVI suite in C:\Program Files then you can ignore this. 

5)  Install the JAF program, during the process a message appears asking if you want to install the cable driver to give NO.  

6) Run the JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v 5.exe and we click on GO. If you have your computer with Windows 7 you should first select the executable properties compatibility mode with Windows Vista or XP SP2. So the JAF will work perfectly in Windows 7. GO When you give an error that will not have DRIVER Box for just OK and continue to give.  

7) Select BB5 tab and mark the Options: Manual Flash, USB Dead, Use INI and select your phone model and its corresponding RM.(Am just giving an example screen shot of flashing a Nokia 5800 and hence the RM-428. The RM would be different for other models)

JAF program is compatible with most mobile but if yours does not appear that you just have to go this route: C: \ program files \ odeon \ jaf

Being in that folder you should look for the "jaf_nok4models.ini" and open it with Notepad, then low until the end of the file and add the model of your computer and guards, for example:

[RM-551] Description = Nokia X6 CABLE

[RM-504] Description = Nokia 5530 CABLE

8) Options uncheck the rest, leaving you marked only noted in the previous step, here a picture of how it should be. If you did everything right in the box STATUS AND RESULTS you must exit the list of found files to flash indicating the route we did in Step 4:

           

   9) In the Box You select NORMAL MODE PHONE

10)  Now having our phone off you connect to the PC and we click on the FLASH button. Just press Flash the program displays a warning message, we click on YES. Then a message appears in the status window requesting you turn on your phone, just press the power button for 1 second and begin the flashing, if it detects your mobile, simply to repeat this step. If after several attempts the JAF will not detect the phone is because your PC does not have the drivers for your phone, so you should install the program called Nokia Ovi Suite 2 and connect your phone to install the drivers, so the JAF you will recognize the first attempt.


11) That's it, the end will have a message DONE! Status window in your cel and display a message LOCAL MODE NOKIA, so you just replace the box in the PHONE MODE NORMAL option as in STEP 7 and Ready have your phone with a custom firmware.
